Last easter sunday '09 I reported a lost atm card to the BPI hotline 89-100 number. I don't remember the actual time or day I lost my card and only realize that it was missing for months already when I received the transaction sheet. I was using another atm card from another bank and just kept the bpi card in my wallet. I lost it sometime in march because the record shows successful withdrawals that I did not made. Let us say that you can have 4 factions worth of dough or 2 top of the line pc gaming machines worth that was stolen.
Weird thing...playing the devil's advocate, if I were the one who found an atm card and successfully knew it's pin, why will I make a big withdrawal the first time and make a few other small withdrawals for 3 months...I would have taken the whole load and leave nothing right?
but that did not happen with me...the perpetrator made a huge transaction and some other small transactions over a period of 3 months...why?
I feel that something funny is going on inside BPI...especially on the lost card department...your are screwed anyway for losing the card so why not screw you a little more...or the thief was really lucky hitting my 4 digit code after a few days he/she got my card and is feeling guilty...or my gf perhaps but no she would have taken the whole load! heheeh...
Here's some advice if you lost your atm card.
1. Call the hotline and give ONLY the information that is being ask.
2. Get the name of the person helping you in the other line.
3. Go to the bank as soon as possible to close the account or request a new card.
I missed the first one and gave too much information...and my call lasted more than 2 minutes and the other person put me on hold 3 times...suspicions suspicions...I was just asking for the card to be blocked...
Anyway...thank the Almighty that somehow there was still a lot left and charge this to experience and call it the devil's due...
and one more thing the calls you make should be recorded...I hope my call was...
now to my lawyer...
